What do I need to use Oracut?
A ChatGPT account and an Oracut account. Oracut runs as a plugin right inside ChatGPT – in the browser, the desktop app and on your phone.
How does Oracut decide what goes into the clip?
Oracut transcribes the video with a timestamp for every word. If the video is longer than your target length, an AI picks the strongest coherent passage – with an opening, a core message and a clear ending. Then pauses, “ums”, slips of the tongue and repeated sentences are cut out.
Which videos can I upload?
MP4, MOV or WebM from 15 seconds to 45 minutes and up to 6 GB, for example straight from your phone. Landscape is automatically turned into 9:16 – the frame follows the speaker. Speech recognition currently works for videos in German.
Can I change the result?
Yes. In the clip editor you correct caption words, pick one of three templates, font, colours and position, change the motion graphics and take sentences out or put them back in. With “Choose another passage” ChatGPT looks for a new passage.
Does Oracut post automatically?
No. Oracut is purely a clipping tool: you download the finished clip as MP4 (and the captions as SRT or VTT if you like) and post it yourself.
Where is my data stored?
Website and database are hosted by Vercel and Neon in Frankfurt, the videos by Cloudflare R2 in the EU, processing happens at Scaleway in Paris. For transcription only the audio track of your video is sent to an AI service. Details are in the privacy policy.
